When more than a metre of rain hammered Ormeau Quarry over just four days in early March during the tail end of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, it could have been a disaster.

Instead, the team kept the site safe and incident-free, despite some of the toughest conditions Southeast Queensland has seen in years.

The IQA Northern NSW Region recently took members behind the barriers at the impressive Coffs Harbour Bypass Project, showcasing the critical role our sector plays in nation-building infrastructure. The tour explored Boral's purpose-built asphalt facility and the engineering marvel at Roberts Hill Tunnel South Portal. 

Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia has been in Far North Queensland this week connecting with their members. 

The visit by David Rynne, CCAA State Director QLD, incorporated Roseneath Quarry and a tour to the soon to be commissioned Boral crushing plant. 

Boral recently showcased how our market-leading integrated supply chain simplifies and streamlines project delivery and improves our clients’ sustainability outcomes at the Australian Airports Association (AAA) Pavements and Lighting Forum. Boral returned to the AAA stage as a proud sponsor of the biannual Forum in Western Sydney.

Today Boral announced the completed acquisition of Wallan Concrete plant, about 45km North of Melbourne. The strategic acquisition of the recently built concrete plant provides Boral with additional ability to service customers in an identified growth corridor as part of Boral’s integrated operations. It also sees the continued employment of skilled workers as they transfer to Boral. 

Since 2018, Boral have proudly supported RSE and their Ryda road safety program, which has reached over 735,000 young Australians. This program equips students with the tools, habits, and behaviours needed to stay safe on the roads, both as drivers and passengers. Our involvement includes providing insights into the challenges faced by heavy vehicle drivers and offering real-life experiences with our trucks and drivers.

Boral Limited (“Boral”) has renewed its longstanding partnership with Road Safety Education Limited (RSE), as part of its commitment to Zero Harm, extending to the responsibility of road safety and better educating drivers and passengers. 

We caught up with Kelli Bodey our Quarry Manager at Booyal to ask about how the last twelve months have been transitioning from a privately owned quarry into Boral. Kelli said she had spoken with her team that morning about just that and the resounding response was challenging but with a lot of positives as well.

Scott Murphy and his team of 12 full time staff supply around half their sales within the Ipswich and Scenic Rim Council regions with the rest of their products going into the Brisbane metro market. The Quarry has supplied construction materials for major projects including the Amberley Airbase Runway, subdivision and construction projects at Ripley Valley, Springfield, Redbank Plains and Yamanto.

The Deer Park Quarry team in Victoria helped fund accommodation costs for the 2025 VACSAL (Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association), Basketball Classic Tournament in Mildura.
