Request an Environmental Product Declaration for concrete
Boral’s EPD On Demand service allows you to request an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for any concrete mix across Australia, supporting project sustainability requirements and certification outcomes.
Whether you are working towards GBCA Green Star certification, an Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) rating, or fulfilling project reporting requirements, EPD On Demand provides fast, verified and project‑specific environmental data.
What is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified document that provides transparent and standardised information about the environmental impact of a product across its lifecycle.
EPDs:
- Report key indicators such as embodied carbon (global warming potential)
- Are independently verified by third parties
- Align with international standards for environmental reporting
- Support certification schemes such as Green Star and ISC ratings
What is EPD On Demand
EPD On Demand enables Boral to generate EPDs for specific concrete mixes on request, rather than relying only on pre‑published documents.
This allows project teams to:
- Access EPDs tailored to actual concrete mixes and supply locations
- Obtain environmental data aligned to project‑specific requirements
- Receive EPDs within significantly shorter timeframes compared to traditional processes
Why use EPD On Demand
Fast turnaround
EPDs for concrete mixes in pre‑verified regions can typically be prepared and submitted for publication within a short timeframe.
Flexible and project‑specific
EPDs can be produced for:
- Any concrete mix design
- Multiple regions and plants
- Specific project requirements
Verified and compliant
All Boral EPDs:
- Are independently verified
- Meet relevant international standards
- Are registered with recognised EPD operators
“Boral remains our preferred concrete supplier because they can demonstrate carbon reduction readily and in a transparent manner through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).”
– Sam Clegg, Associate Principle at Wardle Studio
When you may need an EPD
EPDs are commonly required for:
- Green Star (GBCA) certified projects
- Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings
- Project sustainability and embodied carbon reporting
- Corporate reporting, including Scope 3 emissions
- Contractual requirements on major projects
If you are unsure whether you need an EPD or a project carbon report, Boral can assist.
Requesting an EPD
You can request an EPD for any Boral concrete mix by contacting the Boral sustainability team.
To prepare your EPD, we typically require:
- Project details
- Concrete mix design
- Supply location or plant
Once all required information is received, Boral will proceed with preparing and submitting the EPD for publication.
Check if an EPD already exists
Before submitting a request, you can check whether an EPD has already been published for your product.
If a suitable EPD is already available, it can be used directly for project documentation and certification requirements.
If you cannot find a relevant EPD for your mix or project, you can submit a request using the EPD On Demand service.
What happens next
After your request is submitted:
- The project and mix details are reviewed
- Environmental impacts for the specific mix are modelled
- The EPD is prepared and checked
- The document is submitted for registration with an approved EPD operator
For standard mixes in pre‑verified regions, EPDs can typically be delivered quickly.
Requests involving new regions, complex mixes or incomplete information may require additional time.
Regions and availability
EPD On Demand is available across a growing number of Boral concrete regions nationwide.
Where required, additional regions can be modelled to support project needs, which may extend delivery timeframes.
Cost considerations
EPDs may be:
- Provided without charge for standard, reusable product mixes
- Supplied on a project basis for customer‑specific or project‑specific requirements
Boral can confirm cost applicability as part of the request process.
Supporting sustainable construction
EPD On Demand supports the increasing demand for transparent, verifiable sustainability data in construction.
By providing access to project‑specific EPDs, the service helps project teams:
- make informed material decisions
- meet certification requirements
- improve the accuracy of sustainability reporting
