What is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified document that provides transparent and standardised information about the environmental impact of a product across its lifecycle.

EPDs:

• Align with international standards for environmental reporting

What is EPD On Demand

EPD On Demand enables Boral to generate EPDs for specific concrete mixes on request, rather than relying only on pre‑published documents.

This allows project teams to:

• Receive EPDs within significantly shorter timeframes compared to traditional processes

When you may need an EPD

EPDs are commonly required for:

• Green Star (GBCA) certified projects
• Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings
• Project sustainability and embodied carbon reporting
• Corporate reporting, including Scope 3 emissions
• Contractual requirements on major projects

Requesting an EPD

You can request an EPD for any Boral concrete mix by contacting the Boral sustainability team.

To prepare your EPD, we typically require:

• Project details
• Concrete mix design
• Supply location or plant

Once all required information is received, Boral will proceed with preparing and submitting the EPD for publication.

Check if an EPD already exists

Before submitting a request, you can check whether an EPD has already been published for your product.

If a suitable EPD is already available, it can be used directly for project documentation and certification requirements.

If you cannot find a relevant EPD for your mix or project, you can submit a request using the EPD On Demand service.

What happens next

After your request is submitted:

1. The project and mix details are reviewed
2. Environmental impacts for the specific mix are modelled
3. The EPD is prepared and checked
4. The document is submitted for registration with an approved EPD operator

For standard mixes in pre‑verified regions, EPDs can typically be delivered quickly.
Requests involving new regions, complex mixes or incomplete information may require additional time.

Regions and availability

EPD On Demand is available across a growing number of Boral concrete regions nationwide.

Where required, additional regions can be modelled to support project needs, which may extend delivery timeframes.

Cost considerations

EPDs may be:
