Greetings from the team at Purga Quarry! Nestled near Ipswich in Queensland, just 50 kilometres from Brisbane City, our site spans 120 acres and is a vital part of the local community.

Purga is a charming semi-rural area with around 500 residents. Many bush walkers and mountain bike riders visit the popular Flinders-Goolman nature reserve, home to the largest protected remnant of Swamp Tea Tree in Australia. The reserve offers stunning views across the Scenic Rim and the Great Dividing Range.

Since 1990, we've been proud to operate the Purga Quarry, supplying the market with approximately 500,000 tonnes of high-quality basalt rock per annum. Scott Murphy and his dedicated team of 12 full-time staff work tirelessly to meet the demands of the Ipswich and Scenic Rim Council regions, as well as the Brisbane metro market.

Our distinctive black basalt rock is renowned for its high strength and versatility, making it ideal for concrete aggregate, drainage materials, and road base. It's also a popular choice for exposed aggregate products due to its unique colour.

Over the years, we've contributed to major projects such as the Amberley Airbase Runway and various subdivision and construction projects in Ripley Valley, Springfield, Redbank Plains, and Yamanto.

Looking ahead, we're excited about the proposed extension of our existing pit, which will extend the life of the quarry by another ten years. We're committed to continuing our support for the community and delivering top-quality materials for many more years to come.
