Gateway Upgrade North project aims to alleviate the congested motorway that presently carries more than 83,000 vehicles daily and is the key entry point to Brisbane Airport and the Port of Brisbane. The works included reconfiguring and modifying interchanges, building a shared bicycle and pedestrian path and electronic signage. The technically complex project involved multiple traffic switches and crews working in live traffic conditions, mostly at night. The project started in 2016 and was officially opened on March 15, 2019.
Boral received the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association's Outstanding Project Award - Queensland in June 2019 for our work on Gateway Upgrade North.
