Gateway Upgrade North project aims to alleivate the congested motorway that presently carries more than 83,000 vehicles daily and is the key entry point to Brisbane Airport and the Port of Brisbane. The works include reconfiguring and modifying interchanges, building a shared bicycle and pedestrian path and electronic signage. The technically complex project involves with multiple traffic switches and crews working in live traffic conditions, mostly at night.
The project started in 2016 and is expected to be finished in 2019.
