The Forrestfield-Airport Link has eight-kilometre twin railway tunnels in Perth’s eastern suburbs. It will feature three new stations and connect to Perth’s existing Midland line. The work will enable a seamless transport path from Perth Airport to the city. Using the service will more than halve travel time from Forrestfield to the city by car in peak hour. Boral concrete is being used for the precast segments to line the tunnels and concrete for the stations and structural components of the project. The project is expected to be complete by 2020.

Boral Products & Services
Boral is supplying 180,000 cubic metres of concrete to the project, including about 90,000 cubic metres of highly specified concrete to meet stringent fire resistance requirements. The concrete is being supplied via a new purpose-built mobile batch plant that was commissioned in June 2017 with support from fixed plants in Perth. Early engagement with the lead contractor enabled Boral to commence concrete trials well in advance of the contract awarded.
