The Forrestfield-Airport Link project features twin railway tunnels and new stations to connect Perth Airport and eastern suburbs to the CBD.

The Forrestfield-Airport Link has eight-kilometre twin railway tunnels in Perth’s eastern suburbs. It will feature three new stations and connect to Perth’s existing Midland line. The work will enable a seamless transport path from Perth Airport to the city. Using the service will more than halve travel time from Forrestfield to the city by car in peak hour. Boral concrete is being used for the precast segments to line the tunnels and concrete for the stations and structural components of the project. The project is expected to be complete by 2020.

Salini Impregilo presented Boral with its 2018 international Best Supplier Award in Milan, Italy, to recognise environmental and sustainable innovation though concrete supply. Award recipients were judged on excellence in management, organisation, costs, innovation, smart design, health, safety and the environment, supply chain, logistics, sustainability and human rights. The early engagement with the joint venture meant Boral was able to offer a unique project concrete product to meet all the criteria for this award. Our Western Australian team and the Salini Impregilo-NRW Joint Venture also received the Concrete Institute of Australia’s state Technology and Innovation Award for Excellence in July 2019. The award recognised the state-of-the-art design and manufacture of segmental tunnel linings.
