Boral recently hosted Shane King MP, Member for Kurwongbah, and Linus Power, Shadow Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, at Narangba Quarry for a site tour showcasing how careful planning and a substantial buffer allow efficient operations right on the edge of suburbia.
Located on Raynbird Road, Narangba, the quarry has been operating since 1969 and under Boral’s management since 1995. The site spans approximately 470 hectares, with about 50 hectares used for active quarrying and around 420 hectares retained as buffer land to minimise impacts on neighbours and preserve amenity for the surrounding community.
During the visit, the MPs learned how Narangba Quarry supplies sealing, asphalt and concrete aggregates, as well as road base, to projects across northern Brisbane. They also discussed the site’s logistics, including approved haulage routes to the Bruce Highway, and reviewed quality systems supported by a NATA-accredited on-site laboratory.
The tour highlighted Boral’s commitment to environmental care and community engagement, with programs such as dust monitoring, dust suppression and a Community Consultative Committee ensuring transparency and performance in a live community setting.
Boral appreciates the opportunity to host Queensland’s elected representatives and demonstrate how Narangba Quarry supports regional growth while keeping safety, sustainability and community relationships front and centre. With secure resources and rigorous management systems in place, Narangba is positioned to continue supplying essential materials for decades to come.
