The JackJumpers High Performance Training Centre is a purpose-built facility supporting Tasmania’s NBL and WNBL teams. Relocated from Wilkinsons Point to the Kingborough Sports Precinct, the centre will provide elite training spaces while remaining accessible for community use.
Infrastructure Tasmania, the JackJumpers and Kingborough Council are working together to deliver a facility that fosters both high-performance sport and community engagement.
Boral Solution
Boral was selected by Fairbrother Construction, Tasmania’s largest commercial builder and one of Boral’s biggest statewide concrete customer, to supply 2,500 m³ of concrete for the project. The mix includes blinding, footing and 32 MPa concrete for the ground slab, batched at Derwent Park Concrete Plant using material sourced from Bridgewater Quarry.
Fairbrother chose Boral for the quality and consistency of its product, ensuring the concrete met performance requirements for this high-profile build.
Community Engagement
In August 2025, Fairbrother hosted students from Kingston High School and the Beacon Foundation for a site visit. Students observed the foundation slab being poured and spoke with apprentices about their experiences, gaining insight into construction careers and the scale of major infrastructure projects.
Project Outcomes
Once complete, the training centre will provide a dedicated home for Tasmania’s elite basketball teams while delivering broader community benefits. The facility will help free up court space in other venues and create new opportunities for young people to connect with sport at the highest level.
