Marble Bar Airport, located in remote Western Australia, needed an upgrade to accommodate larger 100-seat aircraft used to transport FIFO workers from around the country to support mining operations in the Pilbara region. The upgrade required 82,000 tonnes of base material and 2,650 tonnes of sealing aggregates, however, the remote location of Marble Bar posed a significant logistical challenge to the project.

Boral’s expertise when it comes to supplying construction materials and sealing aggregates meant it was well placed to supply the necessary materials from our Tabba Tabba Quarry, located 155km North West of Marble Bar. The materials were transported in large Super Quads to site where Boral was responsible for applying a prime, two coat S15E PMB seal, a CRS Emulsion Sand Seal, a fuel resistant seal, and the line marking to the 86,000m2 airstrip. The remarkable part about this project was how well Boral mobilised its crew on the ground. Working in late October through challenging conditions, crew endured temperatures that reached 40 degrees at times, eventually delivering the project on time in November 2022.

Boral's spray sealing solutions are unmatched in the industry. We provide innovative solutions to challenges faced on construction projects, making Boral a preferred partner when supplying construction materials and sealing aggregates, especially in remote environments.
