Boral is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2025 Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) NSW Outstanding Project Award – Greater than $10 Million for our work on the Western Sydney International Airport Aircraft Pavements.
This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional delivery of one of Australia’s most critical infrastructure projects. In a highly competitive category, the judges commended Boral’s unwavering commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
“It was a privilege to be trusted with such a critical piece of infrastructure, and to have another opportunity to demonstrate Boral's capability delivering complex airport projects,” said Boral Business Development Manager, Andrew De Villiers, accepting the award on behalf of the project team.
“The award was accepted by a few members of our project team, with thanks all of the dedicated individuals and supply chain partners who came together to make Western Sydney International Airport a success.”
Boral was selected as the surfacing partner for the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, responsible for producing, delivering, and laying asphalt across the runways, taxiways, and airside roads. Working alongside the CPB Contractors and ACCIONA joint venture, Boral’s teams brought together expertise in asphalt, concrete, quarry materials, logistics, and project management to meet the high standards required for this landmark development.
The airport, scheduled to open in 2026, will accommodate up to ten million passengers annually and is designed to reflect Australia’s natural landscape and First Nations heritage. Boral’s role in this project underscores our capability in delivering sustainable, high-performance infrastructure that meets the demands of modern aviation.
The award was accepted by members of Boral’s project team at the AfPA NSW awards dinner, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate innovation and excellence in flexible pavement delivery. The recognition reflects not only the technical achievements of the project but also the collaborative spirit that drove its success.
