Boral recently took part in the Women of Trades & Industry – Girls on the Tools: Ready for Work Training Course in Brisbane, an initiative designed to empower women considering careers in construction and related trades.
The program, delivered by Women of Trades + Industry (WOTI), is part of a broader mission to close the gap in opportunities for women in traditionally male-dominated sectors. WOTI provides practical training and mentorship to help participants gain confidence, develop employability skills, and understand what it takes to succeed in the workplace. Their courses cover everything from resume writing and interview techniques to workplace health and safety, networking, and career planning.
At the recent event, Boral’s Community Relations and Engagement Specialist, Sue Rogan, connected with attendees to share insights into entry-level roles and career pathways available within Boral. The session also explored industry expectations, compliance requirements, and strategies for building resilience and confidence in construction environments.
Interactive activities, including hands-on demonstrations and industry explainers, created an engaging learning experience for participants. These sessions not only highlighted practical skills but also encouraged conversations about diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
Supporting initiatives like this aligns with Boral’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive construction industry and helping individuals access meaningful career opportunities. By engaging with programs that champion education and empowerment, Boral contributes to building a stronger, more diverse talent pipeline for the future.
