Why Concrete Skills Matter for Future Trades
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials in construction, forming the backbone of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. For apprentices, mastering concreting techniques is essential for career progression. Skills such as preparing, placing, finishing and curing concrete are core competencies in Certificate III in Concreting, a qualification offered through TAFE that sets the foundation for working on everything from house slabs to major civil works.
Learning with premium products like Boral concrete ensures apprentices understand performance standards and durability requirements expected in modern construction. Exposure to industry-leading materials helps students develop confidence and precision - qualities that employers value highly in a competitive market.
Supporting the Next Generation of Skilled Workers
Australia’s construction industry is growing steadily, driven by infrastructure investment and housing demand. The concrete market alone is forecast to reach over $88 billion by 2034, underpinned by large-scale projects such as transport upgrades and renewable energy facilities. This growth means skilled concreters will remain in high demand, offering apprentices strong career prospects across residential, commercial and civil sectors.
By partnering with TAFE, Boral is helping future tradespeople gain practical experience that complements their coursework. These sessions reinforce classroom learning with real-world application — interpreting plans, placing reinforcement, and achieving quality finishes — all while meeting safety and sustainability standards.
A Commitment to Quality and Education
Events like this workshop in Wauchope demonstrate Boral’s commitment to supporting education and building capability in the construction industry. For apprentices, learning with trusted products and experienced professionals provides a strong foundation for a successful career.
