Boral has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Fixed Crushing Plant at our Roseneath Quarry, just south of Townsville, marking a major investment in North Queensland’s future.
We recently celebrated the grand opening with a special event attended by local Council, representatives from the Bindal People – the Traditional Owners of the region – our project partners, and Boral staff. Our Reconciliation Steering Committee members provided a fantastic Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony. The Bindal shared stories about their proud cultural heritage in Townsville and spoke about the projects the committee and Boral have been working on together over the last few years.
“This major investment in our plant and equipment shows how serious Boral is about being part of Townsville’s future,” said Paul Noakes.
Roseneath Quarry is a key contributor to the growth of the region. It is the centre of our supply chain in Townsville, servicing two Boral concrete plants and asphalt operations, domestic and commercial construction, and exporting our products to nearby Pacific Islands.
The new plant is a smarter, faster and safer system designed to deliver long-term value for both customers and the community. Once fully operational, the upgraded circuit will be capable of producing around 250 tonnes of minus 20mm material per hour. This represents a step change in efficiency that reduces downtime, improves consistency, and supports major projects across the region.
“It is not just about increasing volume. It is about making the quarry more agile, safer and more efficient to operate and maintain,” said Neil Bellamy, Quarries Process Optimisation Manager and Project Manager for the Roseneath Upgrade. “Roseneath has always been strategically important, and this upgrade will allow the site to meet the market demands for years to come.”
Paul Noakes also thanked the project teams at Hi Tech and Scope Engineering Services for the professionalism and the expertise they brought to the project including engineering, fabrication, construction and assembly of this new plant. “We intend to provide our customers with a streamlined service, and we are now easily able to provide the volume required for our local projects,” he said.
Finally, a huge shout out to Neil Bellamy for his outstanding work project managing this build, as well as Darren Lange and the Roseneath team. This is an exciting opportunity and a game changer for Boral’s future in Townsville.
