Preparing your site for delivery
Safe site conditions are essential for recycling deliveries. Heavy vehicles experience increased instability while unloading, particularly when tipping bodies are raised. Ensuring appropriate site preparation helps reduce the risk of incidents and supports safe operations.
Level ground requirements
Tipping should only occur on firm, level ground. As a truck’s body is raised, its centre of gravity increases, which can significantly raise the risk of rollover on uneven or sloping surfaces.
Customers should ensure:
- The tipping area is level and compacted
- There are no sudden changes in ground height
- The surface is suitable for heavy vehicle loads
Site assessments and safety checks
Boral drivers conduct a safety assessment at each delivery location before unloading. Customers may be asked to assist by allowing time for these checks and providing information about site conditions or recent changes.
If conditions are deemed unsafe, the driver may decline to tip the load.
Managing site risks
To help reduce risk during deliveries:
- Keep reversing movements to a minimum
- Maintain clear exclusion zones around tipping vehicles
- Ensure people and plant are kept well clear of unloading areas
Good site management supports smoother deliveries and safer outcomes for all parties involved.
