The Spoilbank Marina Project, currently under construction in Port Hedland, WA, is set to become a world-class boating destination. This major infrastructure project is a collaboration between Boral, MGN Civil, Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA), and their partners, including the Department of Transport, Development Western Australia, Pilbara Development Commission, BHP, and the Town of Port Hedland. The marina is expected to open to the public in late 2023.

The project involves the construction of a new recreational boating and marina facility, which will provide improved access and safety for recreational users. The marina will feature:

  • a four lane boat ramp,
  • a 22 boat pen marina (expandable to 80),
  • a separate entrance to the main shipping channel,
  • and trailer parking for up to 200 vehicles.
  • There will also be a publicly accessible breakwater and a vibrant waterfront promenade for the community to enjoy.

Significant progress has already been made on the project, with Boral playing a critical role in supplying quarry materials such as sea wall armour and road base aggregates, along with specialised marine resistant concrete. These materials have been used to construct the marina’s breakwaters, revetments and the boat ramp.

This major infrastructure project showcases the importance of collaboration between industry leading organisations leaders and government bodies to achieve significant results for the community. Boral is proud to be involved in this project and looks forward to seeing the Spoilbank Marina become a world-class boating destination soon.
