Works were carried out at Royal Australian Air Force Base Edinburgh to widen and resurface the runway, taxiway and aprons to accommodate the C-17 Globemaster heavy lift aircraft.

Boral worked with head contractor, Bardavcol Construction, and its designer GHD, to achieve the stringent specification requirements for mix designs and production, including rigorous control of raw aggregate and sand materials for this project. Boral did extensive trials of multigrade bitumen mixes and extensive calibration of batching processes using local materials from Boral quarries prior to the project starting. Airfield operations were maintained at all times and the works were finished on time, within budget with no lost-time injuries.
