Boral recently returned to Norfolk Island to help update its airport, a critical part of the island's infrastructure.

The Norfolk Island Airport Runway Upgrade Project involved the repair and resurfacing of the runway, upgrade and replacement of aeronautical ground lighting and concrete apron construction to comply with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) safety standards. Boral Resources Queensland was awarded the design and construct contract to undertake these works which due to the remote location require logistical solutions including the quarantine and shipping of construction materials, equipment and plant 1,470 kilometres from Brisbane to Norfolk Island including the construction and removal of an unloading groyne.
