In early 2022, Boral purchased a little over 4.5 hectares of land at Badgerys Creek within the Western Sydney growth corridor. The site is currently just a paddock with a house on it but we plan to transform this site into a concrete plant, recycling facility and innovation hub.
This strategic acquisition was the culmination of three years of searching by the property team to find appropriate land close to the future Western Sydney Airport, which is forecast to benefit from over $18 billion of investment in commercial and industrial development over the next 20 years. The area surrounding the airport, known as the ‘Aerotropolis’, will involve the construction of 180,000 new homes to support the projected population increase resulting from an estimated 57,000 new jobs in and around the airport.
The Planning and Approvals team is currently working with our Operations teams to scope their needs for the site so that a development application can be submitted for approval before construction commences.
