Located just 20 kilometers from Tamworth, Boral's Currabubula Quarry is a key supplier of Andesite rock aggregates for concrete, sealing, road base, and fill.
The quarry, situated in the small village of Currabubula within the Liverpool Plains local government area, has been operational since 1996.
It produces up to 400,000 tonnes per annum of Andesite, with 8 blasts permitted each year. The quarry produces a range of rock aggregates from 3 to 20mm, and their usual blast volume is 70,000 tonnes.
The quarry occupies approximately 22 hectares, with an approved extraction area of 11 hectares, and the remainder of the 600-hectare site provides a substantial buffer to the nearest neighbors.
Currabubula is a charming village established around 1838, known for its horse-friendly environment and extensive trail riding opportunities.
The village boasts an impressive hotel, a public school, a general store, playing fields, a war memorial hall, and a showground.
With a population of just over 330 people, Currabubula hosts the annual Currabubula Red Cross Art Exhibition, proudly sponsored by Boral.

The Currabubula Quarry was granted consent as a greenfield development in 1996.
Since then, it has undergone six modifications, including increases in production, extensions to the extraction area, and the construction of an additional dam.
The quarry features benched working faces and in-pit mobile crushing and screening equipment, ensuring efficient operations.

11 full-time staff manage the quarry, supplying products to Boral concrete and asphalt, local councils, Transport for NSW, and local customers.
They also provide work for over 20 local contractors.

The quarry operates under strict environmental and safety regulations, ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding area. The large buffer zone helps protect local wildlife and maintains the tranquility of the village. Regular monitoring and adherence to best practices ensure the quarry's operations are sustainable and safe for both workers and the community.
