Boral’s commitment to upgrading heavy mobile equipment (HME) is paying off, with new CAT loaders now operating at sites across Queensland. These machines are designed to boost productivity, improve reliability and enhance operator experience - delivering benefits for our teams and customers alike.

Recent deliveries include loaders at Q-Crete Southport, Redbank, Noosa and Capalaba, with Ipswich and Coomera next in line. Each site is seeing the same advantages from this investment:

Smarter, faster material handling
The new loaders are larger and more powerful than the models they replace, moving the same amount of material in three trips instead of four. “Once the crew is fully familiar with it, we expect to see even better efficiency with fewer spills and more fill,” Maintenance Manager Nate Fealy said.

Technology that adapts to the operator
A standout feature is the operator login system. Each operator enters a PIN, and the loader automatically adjusts to their preferred settings. “It means there is no need to reset controls and adjust at the start of every shift. The team can just log in and go,” Nate said.

Efficiency without compromise
Despite their increased size and capacity, these loaders deliver strong fuel efficiency thanks to advances in hydraulic pump and engine technology. This helps reduce operating costs and supports Boral’s sustainability goals.

Reliability that keeps us moving
Breakdowns can disrupt schedules and impact customers. These new machines are built for uptime, reducing the risk of unplanned maintenance and keeping projects on track. “The goal is fewer breakdowns and more uptime, which is better for everyone,” Nate said.

Guided by SCROA: Safe, Compliant, Reliable and Optimised Assets

Every investment in HME is guided by Boral’s SCROA philosophy — Safe, Compliant, Reliable and Optimised Assets. This approach ensures that our fleet upgrades meet the highest safety standards, comply with all regulatory requirements, operate reliably under tough conditions and are optimised for efficiency and sustainability.

SCROA is about giving our people the best tools to work safely and effectively, while supporting Boral’s long-term goals for productivity and environmental responsibility.

Part of a nationwide program
The Queensland rollout is part of Boral’s broader HME investment program, which includes more than 140 new assets scheduled for delivery this year. From loaders to excavators and dump trucks, these upgrades are all about equipping our teams with the right tools to deliver for our customers.

This investment is delivering better outcomes for our teams, our customers and the communities we serve.
