Boral proudly stood alongside the First Nations Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng and Taribelang Bunda Peoples as a sponsor of the annual Dorrie Day Careers Expo in Bundaberg.

Now in its fifth year, Dorrie Day has grown into a vibrant celebration of First Nations culture and a powerful platform for career exploration. The term “Dorrie” comes from local Aboriginal English, meaning to be curious or nosey – a fitting theme for a day that encourages young people to ask questions, seek knowledge and connect with their future.

This year’s event welcomed over 3,000 attendees, including more than 1,000 students from 21 schools across the region. With 85 interactive exhibitor stalls, the day was packed with opportunities to explore career pathways, engage with local Elders, and hear inspiring stories from NRL players who shared their journeys on and off the field.

Boral’s presence at Dorrie Day reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and fostering meaningful employment pathways. A big thank you to our attending team – Vince Scarcella, Kate Woodbridge and Christian Lewis – who connected with students, families and community leaders throughout the day, sharing insights into Boral’s operations and career opportunities.

From cultural performances and dance to career conversations and community connection, Dorrie Day was a celebration of curiosity, culture and collaboration. We’re honoured to have played a part and look forward to deepening our involvement in future events.

“Dorrie Day is a powerful example of what happens when community, culture and careers come together. We’re proud to support this initiative and look forward to continuing our engagement in the region,” said Aboriginal Affairs Manager Vince Scarcella.

Boral’s sponsorship of Dorrie Day reflects our broader commitment to Reconciliation and building strong, respectful relationships with First Nations communities. We thank the organisers, PCCC, and all the Elders for welcoming us to be part of this important event.
