The members of Gerringong’s Community Garden group were positively blooming yesterday after our Dunmore operations confirmed funding support to assist with fencing and supplies.
The group, which meets every Tuesday morning to tend to their thriving assortment of herbs, fruits and vegetables, were on hand when Brodie Bolton, Karyn Harmston, Matt Bray and Angus Shedden from our combined Dunmore team (Quarry and our Sand and Soil operations) visited the site to meet the members and confirm our monetary support over the next three years.
Angus told the gathering that Boral was proud if its role in “directly supporting and contributing to a strong local community through direct and indirect employment in the region for more than 100 years”.
“And now it’s great to be able to support this grassroots initiative that helps bring people and the community together,” he said.
Local Member for Kiama Gareth Ward was also on hand to acknowledge the role of the community garden in building a strong community along with Boral’s support.
The Gerringong Community Gardens are a shining example of what can be achieved when the community comes together,” Mr Ward said. “I am delighted that Boral has recognised the work being done here and will contribute to its continued success.
The announcement of our support for the Gerringong Community Garden follows the announcement last month of our support for the Jamberoo Car Show and Family Day, held towards the end of October, which raises money for the local Rural Fire Brigade.
