For immediate release, Thursday 15 May 2025, Sydney: Today Boral Limited (“Boral”) announced the completed acquisition of Wallan Concrete plant, about 45km North of Melbourne.
The strategic acquisition of the recently built concrete plant provides Boral with additional ability to service customers in an identified growth corridor as part of Boral’s integrated operations. It also sees the continued employment of skilled workers as they transfer to Boral.
Boral’s Executive General Manager, Concrete & Quarries South, Matt McKenzie, said the acquisition bolsters Boral’s footprint in Melbourne’s outer North growth corridor and would complement the existing concrete batching plant and quarry at Wollert.
“We know the long-term growth projection in Melbourne, particularly to the north is strong, and Wallan Concrete’s proximity to the market, adjacent to the Hume Freeway, makes it well-positioned to service existing and future customers,” Mr McKenzie said.
“The plant is practically brand new and we’re very excited to have this great asset now part of our integrated operations and its potential to supply key projects in the Melbourne North region.
“What is also important is that we are today welcoming new employees to the Boral team.”
The Wallan Concrete site, which operates six days a week, is freehold land, has a dry batch concrete plant, four cementitious silos, 10 raw material ground bins, a modern office with driver facilities and undercover truck parking.
The employees at Wallan Concrete were welcomed to the Boral team today with activities that included a welcome lunch hosted by the company and a visit from Boral’s Executive General Manager, Concrete & Quarries South, Matt McKenzie, General Manager Concrete Victoria, Corey Gatt and Head of Strategy and Capital, Grant Lediott.
