What is Quicklime?

Quicklime, also known as calcium oxide (CaO), is produced by heating limestone in a controlled process that removes carbon dioxide and leaves a highly reactive lime product. Due to its high purity and reactivity, Quicklime is widely used throughout the mining, manufacturing, construction and water treatment industries.

Quicklime is commonly selected for processes requiring rapid chemical reaction, pH adjustment and treatment performance. It is an important material in steel production, mineral processing and water treatment applications throughout Australia.

Manufactured to Industry Standards

Boral Quicklime is manufactured and tested in accordance with AS 1672 Building Limes. Product quality is supported through Boral's quality assurance processes and laboratory testing program.

Quicklime for Mining and Industrial Processing

Quicklime is widely used in mining and mineral processing operations where process efficiency and product performance are critical. Its high reactivity makes it suitable for a range of industrial applications, including manufacturing processes, chemical treatment systems and environmental management programs.

Quicklime for Water Treatment

Quicklime is used in drinking water, process water and industrial water treatment applications where pH adjustment and treatment processes are required. Its effectiveness and consistent performance make it a widely used solution across municipal and industrial treatment systems.

Quicklime for Steel Production

Quicklime is used throughout steel manufacturing as a flux to help remove impurities during production. Its high calcium oxide content and consistent quality make it an important material in both primary steelmaking and associated metallurgical processes.

Quicklime in Construction

Quicklime is used in a range of construction and civil applications, including soil stabilisation, soil modification and the manufacture of building materials such as bricks, mortar and concrete products. Its high reactivity makes it suitable for applications where material performance and durability are important.
