The Melbourne Metro Railway Project consists of five new stations and twin nine-kilometre cross city railway tunnels connecting the south-eastern and north-western suburbs. This project is expected to increase the capacity of the Melbourne railway network by an additional 39,000 passengers during each peak travelling period per day. It is expected to be finished by 2025.
The Melbourne Metro Railway Project is one of the largest public transport projects undertaken in Australia.
