Boral Honoured at Victorian Asphalt Awards
Boral’s excellence in freeway asphalting and the leadership and work ethic of a foreman have been recognised at the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association’s Victorian awards.
Boral congratulates our Melbourne metropolitan asphalt foreman Tony Razmovski (top left) for winning the inaugural Road Worker of the Year honour for delivering outstanding on-site performance, including high quality production outcomes, consistently demonstrating safety awareness, a positive attitude, customer service, workmanship and strong leadership abilities.
In addition, Boral won Outstanding Project Award for the CityLink Widening Project for demonstrating excellence and outstanding quality on the delivery of a flexible pavement project, recognition of construction excellence, quality outcomes, innovation, technical complexity and client interaction – a project that Tony also worked on.
Sub-contracting to CPB, Boral removed and replaced the open graded surfacing on the southern section of the Tullamarine Freeway, including the Bolte Bridge and CityLink.
“This was an extremely challenging project due to the night works and amount of traffic that uses this freeway,” says Tim Oudenryn, General Manager – Asphalt (Southern Region).
“The project was also technically complex due to the many expansion joints and drainage pits of this project that the profiling and asphalt crews had to navigate around.
“The works required excellent planning, a high quality open-graded asphalt delivered at a very consistent temperature and a high level of crew expertise.
“This was even more challenging due to the number of new operator positions within our crews following recent growth of the business. The frontline leadership guided by the metro operational team did an exceptional job in providing this high quality outcome including very good rideability.”
