environmentally responsible building product - timber.
It is natural, renewable, recyclable, sustainable and
most importantly,
a solution to climate change.
Forestry is one of the best carbon sinks and long term carbon reservoirs on the planet absorbing huge volumes of CO2. In addition, finished wood products store carbon for many decades, sometimes centuries. 1
Timber is carbon positive (net carbon absorber) and will provide carbon offsets (credits) in emission trading schemes in the future, making forestry a good commercial investment.
The increasing size of forestry in Australia bodes well for improved carbon sequestration, (absorption and storage) in the future. 2
Australian plantation and commercial forests absorb the equivalent amount of carbon as taking 9 million cars off the road each year. 3
Timber has the lowest embodied energy of all building products using very low levels of energy in the production of the product. 4
Timber is extremely versatile as a building product, has a high level of thermal efficiency, is lightweight, strong, cost effective and is durable above and below ground.
Aesthetically, timber provides a natural and beautiful environment in residential and commercial settings.
