The Charlton Quarry team recently supported the Charlton Christmas Event, an initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors to shop locally and celebrate the businesses that form the heart of the town.

As part of the event, the team contributed a thoughtfully curated hamper featuring Boral merchandise alongside locally sourced products purchased from Charlton suppliers. The hamper was well received, with the recipient delighted by both its presentation and its strong connection to the local community.

The Christmas Event brought together long‑term residents and newcomers in the town centre, reinforcing the importance of supporting local businesses at a time when many small towns are facing increasing challenges.

“This event was about encouraging people to shop locally and recognise the businesses that are the backbone of the Charlton community,” said Melinda Farrell. “With several businesses closing over the past 18 months, initiatives like this play an important role in supporting small‑town sustainability.”

Approximately 80 people attended the event, with positive feedback from both participating businesses and shoppers. Fifteen local businesses were involved, helping to create a vibrant atmosphere in Charlton and increase visibility along the Calder Highway. The event highlighted the range of goods and services available locally and reinforced how supporting local businesses enables them to give back to community clubs and initiatives.

As Charlton continues to welcome new residents and retirees, ongoing community events and local engagement opportunities remain important in educating residents on the benefits of shopping locally and supporting the long‑term sustainability of the town.

Boral congratulates the Charlton Quarry team and extends thanks to Maxine Thompson for putting together a standout hamper that showcased the best of both Boral and the Charlton community.
