Redlynch Quarry in Queensland has welcomed a new addition to its fleet, further strengthening site capability as part of Boral’s ongoing Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) program.
A fit-for-purpose solution for quarry conditions
The newly introduced Cat 740GC articulated haul truck is already playing a key role on site, supporting the movement of armour rock across Redlynch’s challenging terrain.
Designed specifically for off-road conditions, the articulated haul truck features a pivoting joint between the cab and tray. This allows the machine to move more freely across uneven ground and navigate tight haul roads with greater ease than traditional rigid trucks.
With all six wheels maintaining contact with the ground at all times, the design supports improved traction, stability and productivity, while also contributing to safer operations in demanding quarry environments.
Enhancing performance and efficiency
With a capacity of over 36 tonnes, the 740GC is well suited to the scale of Redlynch’s operations. Automated speed control on downhill sections helps maintain consistent performance while reducing operator fatigue, supporting efficiency across the full haul cycle.
These features ensure the truck is not only capable of handling the site’s requirements but also contributes to smoother, more controlled material movement throughout the quarry.
Tailored commissioning for site conditions
To ensure the truck was optimised for Redlynch’s specific conditions, the commissioning process involved close collaboration between site teams and equipment specialists.
Adjustments were made to suit the quarry’s longer haul distances and operating environment, ensuring the machine performs reliably and efficiently within the site’s workflow.
This tailored approach reflects Boral’s broader commitment to ensuring new equipment is not only introduced successfully, but also configured to deliver long-term value at each site.
Part of a broader HME program
The addition of the articulated haul truck at Redlynch forms part of Boral’s national HME program, which is focused on modernising fleet capability, improving safety outcomes and supporting consistent performance across operations.
By investing in fit-for-purpose equipment and working closely with site teams during commissioning, Boral continues to strengthen its quarry network and support the delivery of high-quality materials for construction and infrastructure projects across Australia.
