Natural Sand

A naturally occurring material with a nominal size of generally 5 millimetre minus. Typically washed during the production process.

Concrete Sand

A naturally occurring material with a nominal size of generally less than 5 millimetres. Typically washed and screened during the production process. Normally supplied to a specification based on Australian Standards including grading, Clay/Fine Silt, pH, Water absorption and Organic Impurities.

 

Features & Benefits 

Generally produced to meet Australian Standards for concrete and asphalt production. 

Fine Sand

A naturally occurring material with nominal size of less than 5 millimetres with a high percentage of fines on the 75 micron sieve. 

 

Features & Benefits 

Can be blended with a coarser sand to produce a sand suitable as a concrete sand or used as an asphalt filler to comply with the asphalt mix design. 

Filter Sand

Generally a coarser sand with minimal fines to allow the free drainage of water through the sand layer.

Generally supplied to a certain specification. 

Bedding Sand

Typically, a naturally occurring material that has a high clay/fine silt content to ensure the material can hold its shape when used under concrete slabs, base for pipe laying.

Generally, has a high clay/fine silt content and maybe required to meet a specification including grading and pH and resistivity. 

Packing Sand

Typically a naturally occurring material that has a high clay/fine silt content to ensure the material can hold its shape when used under concrete slabs.
