DIY, DIT or DIFM

The decision on whether to DIY, DIT or hire a contractor will involve deciding how much time you have, your budget and the complexity of your project.

DIY (Do It Yourself) – A good rule of thumb when working out your schedule is: one day of work for professionals equals 5 days for an amateur, then double it. For help with your DIY project, download our How -To guides here:

DIT (Do It Together) – When planning a DIT project, be realistic about what projects you can complete yourself and/or with the help of family and friends. There are some jobs that will need to be done by a professional. Water features and fish ponds can be tricky and you may need to get advice and assistance from an expert.

Landscape architects can help with design tricks to make a small garden look bigger, create attractive lighting effects or install garden art.

DIFM (Do It For Me) – If time is an important factor using a contractor may be the best option. Your local Boral stockist can help with selecting a contractor or speak to friends who have had a project done by a professional for a referral.
