Boral Asphalt Project Coordinator Kaitlyn Murray has been recognised by the Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA), receiving the 2026 Queensland Graduate/Cadet Award and progressing to the national awards later this month. The AfPA Industry Awards recognise excellence across Australia's flexible pavement industry, celebrating emerging talent, leadership, innovation and project delivery.
The award recognises emerging professionals who are making a significant contribution early in their careers, demonstrating leadership, technical capability and a commitment to advancing the industry.
Since joining Boral in 2022 as a laboratory technician in Toowoomba, Kaitlyn has built experience across asphalt operations, quality assurance and project delivery, progressing into project coordination roles that support major government, council and civil construction projects across North Queensland.
Today, based in Townsville, she coordinates all aspects of asphalt projects, including labour, plant, subcontractors, traffic management, testing and client requirements.
According to Boral Asphalt Area Manager Simon Colton, Kaitlyn's practical experience in operational and field-based roles has helped her develop a strong understanding of the challenges faced by project delivery teams.
"Kaitlyn understands the pressures experienced by field teams, and uses that experience when planning works, allocating resources and setting expectations," Simon said.
The award acknowledges Kaitlyn's ability to manage complex projects and respond to challenges as they arise, while maintaining clear communication with crews, subcontractors and clients.
Her proactive approach has also helped drive continuous improvement across project delivery. By reviewing project performance, identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions, Kaitlyn has contributed to improvements in planning, coordination and operational efficiency.
The recognition highlights the important role emerging professionals play in the future of Australia's road infrastructure industry and reflects the depth of talent being developed across Boral's Asphalt business.
Kaitlyn will now represent Queensland at the AfPA National Industry Awards, which bring together winners from across Australia to celebrate outstanding achievement in the flexible pavement sector.
Congratulations to Kaitlyn on this outstanding achievement, and best of luck at the national awards.
