At Boral’s Thornton Asphalt plant in New South Wales, Brett Slavin has reached a remarkable milestone. Forty years with the business.
Brett began his career with Boral in the Asphalt team, joining the spray seal crew and later stepping into the role of sprayer. Over the decades, his career has spanned a mix of hands‑on and supervisory roles, reflecting both his technical capability and his commitment to the people around him.
Throughout his time in the business, Brett has been a trusted teammate and advocate. He has long supported those he works alongside, including serving as Union Delegate for the Spray Seal division, representing his colleagues and helping foster a strong team culture.
For the past ten years, Brett has returned to on‑ground operations, working in the tipper spreading aggregate and enjoying the fast‑paced teamwork that comes with chasing the sprayer. It is a role that requires resilience and experience, with work carried out outdoors in all conditions, from summer heat through to winter cold.
Those who work with Brett agree that reaching forty years in such a physically demanding environment is an impressive achievement. It is also a testament to his dedication, work ethic and pride in the role he plays every day.
Congratulations, Brett, and thank you for the contribution you have made to Boral over the past four decades.
