Boral has proudly completed its first-ever Women Leading program, a six-month initiative designed to build and maintain a strong pipeline of women in leadership roles.
Launched in December 2024 and sponsored by Executive General Manager of People & Culture Sam Toppenberg, the program brought together 25 emerging female leaders for a blend of face-to-face and virtual learning experiences. Through workshops, coaching sessions and networking opportunities, participants strengthened leadership skills, enhanced strategic thinking and amplified their individual strengths.
A Program Designed for Growth
The curriculum explored authentic leadership, strategic thinking, personal brand, executive presence and leadership storytelling. Participants also engaged in group business challenges, panel discussions with senior leaders and networking dinners with the Executive Team.
Alongside these sessions, each participant received three individual coaching sessions, career discussions with their manager and opportunities to connect with other female colleagues, creating not only new skills but lasting professional relationships.
Voices from the Program
Amanda Urban, Logistics and Allocations Manager, described the experience as:
“A transformative experience, both professionally and personally. The combination of one-on-one coaching and deep personal development helped me uncover and embrace my unique strengths as a leader. The sense of community and shared experiences created a powerful network of support.”
Lauren Trewin, Lysterfield Quarry Manager, reflected:
“This course was completely different to any leadership course I’ve done in the past; it focused on identifying strengths and using my strengths to my advantage. It helped me set clear career goals, enabling me to look at opportunities through a different lens.”
Building Pathways for the Future
By investing in the growth and development of our female leaders, we’re creating pathways and support to help women achieve their career ambitions.
Our next Women Leading program will kick off later this year. We’ll also be launching Selling the Boral Way for all sales leaders, a Front-Line Leaders Training program and more initiatives to strengthen leadership across the business.
