Boral has completed the delivery phase of its Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) investment program, the most significant HME renewal initiative in our history. More than 150 new assets are now in place across sites in every state, strengthening our network and supporting our teams with modern, safer and more reliable equipment.

Over the past two years, we have shared updates as new machines arrived on site and the rollout accelerated nationwide, including early deliveries in late 2024 and the rapid deployment schedule that followed. That delivery momentum has now translated into a fleet that is ready to deliver consistent outcomes for customers and communities, every day.

From rollout to results: optimising the fleet we have built

The next chapter of the HME program is about making sure every asset delivers its full value over its life. That means a sharper focus on how we use, care for and plan our assets, not only the new machines, but all equipment across our sites.

As we have outlined in previous HME updates, this investment is designed to deliver more for customers and our people through improved reliability and productivity, better fuel efficiency, and technology that supports safer, easier operation. With delivery now complete, the focus shifts to day-to-day disciplines that lift performance, including:

  • Utilisation and planning to ensure equipment is allocated to the right tasks at the right time
  • Idle time reduction to improve productivity and reduce unnecessary wear
  • Fuel performance through better operating practices and smarter scheduling
  • Proactive maintenance to protect reliability, uptime and service continuity

This is what we mean when we talk about safe, compliant, reliable and optimised assets. Boral’s SCROA approach, Safe, Compliant, Reliable and Optimised Assets, has guided HME decision making through the rollout and will continue to guide how we manage the fleet going forward.

What this means for customers

For customers, the value of this program is felt in the fundamentals that matter most on site and in supply chains:

  • More consistent availability and uptime, supporting dependable service
  • Stronger operational resilience, with modern equipment designed for reliability
  • Improved productivity, helping materials move efficiently through our network
  • A safer working environment, supported by newer technology and improved operator experience

As one example, our newer generation CAT loaders are delivering smarter, faster material handling, alongside operator experience improvements like login settings that automatically adjust to individual preferences. These kinds of gains are practical and visible on site, and they add up across a national network.

Building consistency through a unified fleet look

Our fleet is one of the most visible parts of Boral’s business. Every truck or heavy vehicle that carries the Boral name represents our people, our standards and the customer experience we deliver.

Alongside the HME renewal program, Boral has been strengthening how our brand shows up on vehicles through more consistent fleet branding guidelines and a nationally coordinated approach. As more newly upgraded assets operate across Australia, customers and communities will increasingly see a clear and unified Boral presence on the road and on site.

This work supports a simple idea: when our vehicles look consistent and well cared for, it builds confidence, reinforces professionalism, and supports pride for the teams who operate them.

A milestone in our 80th year, and a foundation for what comes next

In Boral’s 80th year, completing this program is an important milestone. It reflects a position of strength, and a continued commitment to investing in the operational capability that supports long term performance.

Earlier updates highlighted the scale and pace of the investment, including the plan to deliver more than 140 new HME assets and rebuild additional machines as part of a multi-year program. With delivery now complete, the focus is clear: disciplined asset management, strong site leadership, and continuous improvement that ensures this investment delivers lasting value for customers, our people and our business.

Thank you to the teams behind the program

Programs of this scale only succeed through planning, coordination and strong teamwork across sites and support teams. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to delivery, commissioning, training and the day-to-day work of operating and maintaining these assets across the country.
