Boral’s Teven Quarry on the Far North Coast of New South Wales marked an important milestone late last year, celebrating 40 years of continuous operation supporting the local region.

The anniversary comes as Boral itself marks 80 years operating in Australia, highlighting the role long‑standing regional sites like Teven have played in building the foundations of communities for generations.

The quarry team currently comprises 11 full‑time employees, spanning decades of experience and new careers alike. Among them is long‑serving team member Shane Robson, who recently marked 32 years with the business, alongside Lachlan Johnson‑Hays, who celebrated his first year on site.

To acknowledge the milestone, Quarry Manager Dick Palliser and the team came together for a staff barbeque, reflecting on the site’s history and the collective effort that has sustained operations for four decades.

“We have a great team here at Teven, and we were really pleased to be able to mark this anniversary with a BBQ for our staff,” said Mr Palliser. “If we are successful with our development applications, we hope to celebrate many more anniversaries into the future.”

Boral acquired the Teven Quarry in 1985, and since that time the site has played an important role in supplying hard rock aggregates used in building and development across the Ballina and Lismore regions. These materials form the foundations of essential local infrastructure, housing and community projects.

Looking ahead, work is currently underway to prepare a State Significant Development application, which would be subject to the relevant planning and approval processes. The proposal aims to consider future production needs and the potential extension of the quarry’s operational life, supporting the region over the long term if approved.

As Teven Quarry marks 40 years of operation, it stands as a reflection of Boral’s broader 80‑year commitment to operating in Australia, underpinned by skilled local employment, long‑term investment and a strong connection to the communities it serves.
