Installation
J-Runners
Position steel runners at base and head with the short leg toward floor side of wall. Securely fix runners to structural supports with power actuated fasteners at both ends and 600mm maximum centres. With steel frame construction, fix base and head runners and J-Runners or E-Studs to columns and beams before steel is fireproofed. Remove spray-fireproofing from runners and E-Studs before installing Shaft Liner Panels.
Liner Panels
Cut Shaft Wall Liner Panels 25mm shorter than floor-to-ceiling height and install vertically between J-Runners. Pack Glass Fibre Light Industrial Semi-Rigid Insulation into gap between Liner Panels and head J-Runner. Where Shaft Walls exceed maximum available panel height, position Liner Panel end joints within upper and lower third points of wall. Stagger joints top and bottom in adjacent panels and reinforce end joints with horizontal CH Stud.
CH Studs
Cut steel CH Studs 15mm less than floor-to-ceiling height and install between Liner Panels with liner inserted fully in stud groove. Screw fix studs to runners on walls over 4.8 metres high.
E-Studs
Install full-height steel E-Studs or J-Runners vertically at T-intersections, corners and columns. Install full-height E-Studs over Liner Panels to both sides of closure panels.
Openings
Frame small opening cut in Liner Panels only with J-Runner to full perimeter. For fire damper openings, frame with J-Runner 0.9mm uncoated steel thickness at sides, head and sill and reinforcing as shown on drawings. Suitably frame all openings to maintain structural support for wall.
Door Frames
Lift Landing Door
Install floor-to-ceiling Jamb Strut to each side of door frame to act as strut-stud. Fix strut-stud to floor and ceiling runners with two 8 x 16mm Wafer Head Drill Point Screws. At door frame head, fix cut-and-bend J-Runner to Jamb Struts, and Jamb Struts to door frame with 8 x 16mm Wafer Head Drill Point Screws.

Pedestrian Door
Install floor-to-ceiling Jamb Strut to each side of door frame to act as strut-stud. Fix strut-stud to floor and ceiling runners with two steel pop rivets. At door frame head, fix cut-and-bend J-Runner to Jamb Struts with steel pop rivets. Fix Jamb Struts to jamb fixing straps with 10 x 16mm Wafer Head Drill Point Screws - two to each strap.
Access Panel Frames
Install floor-to-ceiling CH Stud to each side of single and multiple access panel frame, to act as strut-stud. Fix strut-stud to floor and ceiling runners with two steel pop rivets to each connection.Remove floor runner flanges for full width of frame. Fix horizontal CH Stud at head and sill of single access panel frame. Fix access panel frame to floor and shaft sides of vertical and horizontal CH Studs, with 3mm diameter steel pop rivets at 300mm centres.
Face layers
1 Hour System - Install 16mm Boral Firestop vertically to tenancy side of wall frame. Fasten to studs with min. 6 x 30 Type S or Type D Gypsum Screws at 200mm maximum centres to vertical edges and 300mm maximum centres to field studs. Stagger screws 100mm to adjacent sheets. Do not fasten to floor or ceiling runners. Caulk perimeter with Cornice Adhesive or flexible fire resistant sealant as detailed.
2 Hour System (Standard Shaft Wall) - Install 16mm Boral Firestop base layer vertically to floor side of studs. Fasten to studs with 30mm Type S or Type D Bugle Head Gypsum Screws at 200mm maximum centres to vertical edges and 300mm maximum centres to field studs. Stagger screws 100mm to adjacent sheets. Do not fasten to floor or ceiling runners.

Caulk perimeter with Cornice Adhesive or flexible fire resistant sealant as detailed. Install 16mm Boral Firestop face layer vertically over base layer with joints staggered 600mm. Fasten to studs with 45mm Type S or Type D Bugle Head Gypsum Screws at same centres as for base layer, staggered from those in base layer. Do not fasten to floor or ceiling runners. Caulk perimeter with Cornice Adhesive or flexible fire resistant sealant as detailed.
