For immediate release, Monday 1 June 2026: Boral Limited (“Boral”) will today present Senior Constable Mark Millar of Queensland Police Service the Boral Supporting Excellence Police Award for his extensive work educating young people on road safety and accident prevention.

Senior Constable Millar has helped deliver more than 45 Ryda road safety programs – a professionally developed program by Road Safety Education Limited (RSE) supported by Boral – throughout the Brisbane metropolitan area since 2020. He has more than 14 years’ police experience, including 10 years with the Forensic Crash Unit. Throughout his entire police career, Senior Constable Millar has worked within the Logan district in Brisbane, during which time he has attended over 250 fatal and serious injury crashes.

Last year, more than 1300 people were killed on Australian roads and road fatalities continue to rise each year.1  Road trauma remains the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the secondbiggest killer of all Australians aged between 15 and 24.2

Boral EGM Concrete and Quarries North Paul Noakes, says: “We are pleased to present the Boral Supporting Excellence Police Award to Senior Constable Millar and recognise his commitmentand enthusiasm towards changing youth behaviour on the road. He is a strong role model forstudents and police officers alike; his regular support and work in encouraging other police officers to participate in the life-saving program is commendable.

“As one of the largest suppliers of construction materials in Australia with about 3500 heavy vehicles on the road each day, Boral is committed to better educating the next generation of drivers and passengers with whom we share the road with. We are proud to work alongside strong advocates of road safety and value our longstanding partnership with RSE and the Ryda program.”

Senior Constable Millar of Queensland Police Service, says: “Ryda gives me the opportunity to assist young people to realise the choices they make on the roads do not only affect them but others in the car with them and their friends, families and loved ones. It’s a ripple effect and they are at the centre of it. It’s also a great way to show a different side of what they think of Police.”

"The police presence at Ryda is such an important element, bringing their firsthand experience in dealing with road trauma and its impact on community members,” says Maria Lovelock, CEO of Road Safety Education Limited. “For many Ryda students, Mark is their first encounter with a police officer. It is so important it is positive, and establishes that trust in the shared mission to make our roads safer. Mark has been fantastic at building a rapport with our students, ensuring that they learn through doing in this highly interactive session. On behalf of RSE, we commend Mark and the entire QPS for their support of the Ryda program. Together we are working to help young people make better decisions on the road, and making the roads a safer place for all road users.”
