For immediate release, Wednesday 7 October 2026, Sydney: Boral Limited (“Boral”) has launched a new carbon reporting capability that gives customers consolidated, detailed embodied carbon information for concrete products used in projects.

Embodied carbon commonly refers to the greenhouse gas emissions associated with various stages of a product’s life cycle including raw material supply, production, and delivery.

The new automated reporting capability makes carbon information easier to access and use by eliminating the need to manually compile information from numerous environmental product declarations (EPDs). Instead, Boral produces a single statement for selected projects or customer accounts, which includes the total embodied carbon, and product-level breakdowns across concrete supplied by Boral.

Boral draws on actual customer delivery docket data and its back-end database to calculate embodied carbon across the full supply chain. This includes raw materials used in each concrete mix, the origin, and estimated transport between facilities, as well as to the customer site.

The new offering supports more detailed project-level and portfolio-level analysis, helping customersbetter understand their carbon footprint, monitor sustainability progress, and make more informed decisions to reduce emissions.

Dr Ali Nezhad, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at Boral, said: “As government and customers place greater emphasis on decarbonisation, organisations need more accurate and accessible carbon information to better understand their footprint and identify where reductions can be made. This is particularly important as mandatory sustainability reporting expectations continue to evolve across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

“By giving our customers clearer information about the embodied carbon in the products they use, we can help them report more confidently and make decisions that support their own emissions reduction goals.”

The new carbon report offering complements Boral’s EPD On Demand service, which produces project-specific, third-party verified EPDs significantly faster than the traditional process. The automated data generation process can be delivered to customers within 72 hours, compared with a manual process that can take over three months.

“Together, these capabilities allow us to provide customers with simplified and streamlined carbon information that best suits their reporting requirements, while quickly reflecting changes arising from our ongoing decarbonisation initiatives. As Boral reduces emissions in our cement and concrete production, more agile reporting helps ensure customers can see and report the benefit of that progress sooner,” Dr Nezhad concludes.
