Boral introduces
glow in the dark concrete
Luminesque™ is a patented new concrete aggregate application which will illuminate polished concrete floors, pool surrounds, garden pathways, outdoor areas and driveways.
The addition of this brilliant luminescent aggregate technology ensures a natural glow in the dark for hours after natural or artificial light exposure. Luminesque™ can be seeded in-situ, applied as exposed or polished concrete and is best suited to areas where it can absorb ample light during the day for a radiant glow at night.
Luminesque™ concrete reduces the need for artificial light, has a long lifespan and comes in a range of colours.
Luminesque™ was used on a recently constructed home in Camberwell, Victoria. Melbourne based boutique builder Constructing Spaces was looking to push the boundaries of traditional building materials for his exclusive design.
Constructing Spaces researched Boral's website to find something new and innovative to add to a polished exposed slab and found Luminesque™ illuminating concrete.
Boralstone Latte was requested, with Luminesque™ Sky and Shamrock seeded into the surface during the concrete pour. The surface was exposed and finished with a grind and seal process to reveal the Quartzite and Luminesque™ glow in the dark aggregate.
The Builder/Architect and home owners were thrilled with the finished product.
