Berrima Cement Works has been busy hosting visitors in recent weeks, with both political leaders and industry associations spending time on site to see our operations up close.

Federal Member for Whitlam Carol Berry MP and Federal Member for Cunningham Alison Byrnes MP toured the plant to learn more about our advanced manufacturing capability and the work underway to decarbonise cement production, including our alternate fuels program. Their visit also coincided with the annual January shutdown, which brings about 400 specialist contractors to site for major maintenance, including the replacement of the cement kiln lining.

The MPs saw the scale of the operation that supplies up to 40 per cent of the cement used in NSW and the ACT and employs 100 local workers. The visit reinforced the importance of giving decision-makers the chance to see firsthand the contribution we make to Australian manufacturing and to the communities where we operate.

Berrima, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, also welcomed Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia and the Cement Industry Federation for a tour during the shutdown. The groups gained a deeper understanding of the operational complexity of cement manufacturing and the essential role it plays in supporting national infrastructure, while the sector continues to progress towards reducing emissions.

Thank you to the team for hosting our industry visitors and to EGM Cement Rajeev Ramankutty for hosting the MPs.
